In the Magical Wastes, there are numerous beautiful places to visit. The Purple River of Bloomington, The Living Forest, Mt Alexandria, and so many others. Today, however, we want to introduce you, our dear reader, to the Radiant Plateau. Just a 1 day hike south from the Well of Creation, the Radiant Plateau offers some of the most beautiful scenery in the entire Magical Wastes.
Sitting 500 feet above the surrounding land, the Plateau offers a gorgeous view of the town of Andersville, and the lush Anders Forest, a new redwood forest created from the most recent Eruption from the Well. Some of the trees are, through some magical force, estimated to be over 400 years old, and stand well over 250 feet tall. While camping on the Plateau, you can be woken up in the morning by the calls of the local Redwing Dove population, who can even provide notice when there is an eruption from the geyser in the center of the plateau, nicknamed Whitehitch. Whitehitch is believed to originate as a natural, water geyser, but in the time since the last great Eruption from the Well of Creation, it has begun to spew pure Radiance into the environment, causing the abundant growth of flora on the Plateau. This magical injection of health and beauty into the landscape has lead to its popularity as a traveling destination, and many have taken advantage of the temperate spring season to explore the location, finding new and undiscovered plants often, and even being able to participate in the cataloging of the new species with the help of the IPLS local chapter.
In the urban legends of the residents of Andersville, there is said to be a unique and stunning being who calls the Radiant Plateau home. A bird, resembling the local Redwing Dove, who’s wings are said to be made of pure Radiance, is said to fly through the Anders Forest, searching for the injured to offer a helping hand. While this majestic creature has yet to be identified, there have been many locals who have claimed to see it after breaking limbs or falling out of trees. Who knows, it may be you who finds this creature once and for all.
